Andy hails from Edinburgh, Scotland, but has lived in New Zealand on and off since he was 20, starting with a rugby stint in Taranaki. Now settled in North Canterbury, he splits his time between travelling for work and Buro’s Christchurch office.
With over 35 years in the furniture industry, Andy has worked across domestic and commercial sectors. Growing up, he watched his father upholster sofas with a hammer and a mouth full of tacks—long before staple guns were a thing! He believes there’s always more to learn and approaches his work with curiosity and a thirst for new ideas.
Outside of work, Andy enjoys keeping fit, spending time with family, watching rugby, travelling, and reading. He also dabbles in “pretending to be a farmer”—a hobby that keeps life interesting. Fun fact: he’s also a qualified transformational coach, which comes in handy in unexpected ways.
