Chris Berry is the keeper of Buro’s history—literally. Joining the team in 1994 when we were still known as Buro Officeware, he’s our longest-standing employee and an integral part of the company’s journey from day one. With unmatched product knowledge and decades of experience, Chris has seen it all and knows the ins and outs of every chair we’ve ever designed.
He started his career with Dixons, a wholesale stationery company, working his way through roles in customer service, warehousing, and eventually running a department focused on computer furniture and chairs. A timely redundancy led him straight to Buro, where David Boyd personally brought him on board. And as they say, the rest is history.
A true Christchurch local, Chris attended Cashmere High School and has lived in the area his whole life. He’s been married for 32 years and has a bustling family life with two stepchildren and four grandkids. Outside of Buro, Chris’s passions include classic cars—he’s a proud member of The Classic Cortina Club—and he’s a skilled gardener and stone carver, often found sculpting pieces from Oamaru stone.
Chris’s wealth of experience and dedication to the brand make him a cornerstone of Buro. Whether you need a solution or a story from the early days, Chris is always ready to share his knowledge with a smile.
